I. Personal information we collect and why

“Personal information” means information that identifies or can reasonably identify you, alone or together with other data.

1. Account and profile

Depending on how you sign in, we may collect:

  • Phone number (for SMS verification login, where available)
  • Email address (for verification, account security, and account deletion eligibility)
  • Third-party sign-in data when you use Google, Facebook, or similar providers (for example nickname and avatar), subject to that provider’s privacy policy
  • Profile information you choose to provide, such as nickname, avatar, gender, date of birth, bio, and interest tags

Nickname is required to use core social features. Other profile fields are optional unless we tell you otherwise.

2. Content you create or share

When you use Wehi, we may process content you create or upload so we can provide and moderate the Services, including:

  • Private-chat messages you send or receive, including text, voice, and image messages
  • Voice-room audio when you speak on a seat (where voice rooms are available)
  • AI Companion / chat-assistant conversations
  • Profile photos and other images you upload
  • Feedback, reports, and support messages you send to us

3. Payments (where available)

If you purchase virtual items (for example diamonds) through Google Play or Apple App Store billing, the store processes payment details. We receive limited purchase records needed to deliver items, prevent fraud, and handle support (for example order ID, product ID, amount, and purchase time). We do not receive your full card number.

4. Device, diagnostics, and analytics

To operate, secure, and improve the Services, we may collect:

  • Device type, OS version, app version, language, and basic network status
  • Advertising identifiers where permitted (for example Google Advertising ID on Android), used for analytics and attribution
  • Crash logs and performance diagnostics (for example via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Approximate usage events (feature use, errors) to improve product quality

We do not request precise location for core features in the current Play Store build.

5. Security and anti-abuse

We may process account, device, and log signals to detect spam, fraud, unauthorized access, and policy violations, and to protect users and the platform.

If we stop operating the Services, we will stop collecting personal information for that purpose and delete or anonymize retained data as required by applicable law, after any notice we are required to give.

II. Device permissions

We request permissions only when needed for a feature you use. You can deny or revoke permissions in system settings; some features may then be unavailable.

Permission / capabilityTypical use in Wehi
CameraTake or update a profile photo or room cover image
Photos / media (limited)Choose an avatar via the system photo picker; older Android versions may use scoped storage for local media where music or file features apply
NotificationsService alerts, chat, and activity notices
Bluetooth connectConnect audio accessories where supported
MicrophoneVoice rooms (when you join a mic seat) and private-chat voice messages (for example hold-to-talk). We request access only when you use those features. Captured audio is processed to deliver the feature and may be uploaded to our servers so the recipient or room participants can hear it
Foreground serviceKeep limited background tasks running for media playback, sync, or related features when you use them

We do not require overlay (“draw over other apps”) permission for the current Play Store release.

III. AI features and your data

Wehi offers AI Companion and chat-assistance features. Depending on the feature and your device:

  1. On-device processing. Some generation and translation runs locally on your device (for example via an on-device language model). In that case, prompts and outputs may stay on the device for that task.
  2. Server-side processing. Some features may send the minimum text needed to our servers (or a contracted processor) to complete the request.
  3. Purpose limitation. AI inputs and outputs are used to provide the feature, improve safety/moderation, and operate the Services—not to sell your personal conversations.
  4. Your control. You can stop using AI features. Avoid entering sensitive personal data you do not want processed.
  5. Safety. Do not use AI features to create illegal, exploitative, or deceptive content. We may filter or remove violating content and act on in-app reports.
  6. In-app reporting. In AI Companion chat, open the menu (⋯) and choose Report AI content to flag an inappropriate AI reply. You select a reason and may add optional details. We receive the report (including a short snippet of the flagged reply and related account/device context needed for review) through our feedback channel, review it for safety and policy compliance, and may take action such as filtering, model or prompt adjustments, or account measures where appropriate. You can also contact [email protected].

IV. How we share and disclose information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as follows:

  1. Public or shared profile content. Information you set to public (for example nickname and avatar) can be seen by other users.
  2. Service providers. Trusted vendors that help us host, deliver, secure, analyze, or support the Services (for example cloud hosting, crash reporting, push delivery, content moderation, and payment processors). They may process data only for contracted purposes.
  3. Legal and safety. When reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, or protect rights, safety, and security.
  4. Business transfers. In a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, subject to continued protection consistent with this Policy or renewed notice/consent where required.
  5. With your direction. When you ask us to share information with a third party you designate.

Current categories of partners may include cloud infrastructure, analytics/crash reporting, push notification providers, app-store billing, and moderation tooling. Third-party SDKs are governed by their own policies when they collect data under their control.

V. International data transfers

We may process and store information on servers outside your country of residence (including regions such as Europe or Asia, depending on configuration). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers (for example contractual clauses) so your information remains protected in line with this Policy.

The Services may contain links to third-party sites or apps. Their privacy practices are not controlled by us. Review their policies before providing personal information.

VII. How we store and protect information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, such as encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and staff awareness practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please protect your account credentials.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

VIII. How you manage your information

Access and update

  • Edit profile information in the app: Me → Edit Profile (or equivalent).
  • Manage notification, camera, microphone, and similar permissions in your device settings.
  • Contact us at [email protected] or via in-app Help & Feedback if you cannot access data through the app. We aim to respond within 15 days.

Delete personal information or your account

You may request deletion of personal information or your entire account:

  1. In the app (recommended): Me → Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account, then follow the on-screen verification steps.
  2. By email: [email protected] from the email associated with your account (include your Wehi ID if possible).
  3. Web instructions: see Account Deletion.

We typically process eligible deletion requests within 15 days. Some records may be retained longer when required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance, and then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.

Account deletion is permanent. Virtual assets (for example diamonds or silver coins) associated with the account are forfeited. Eligibility rules shown in the app (for example email binding or balance limits) may apply.

IX. Children

The Services are intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have collected such information, contact [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

X. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated Date” above will change when we do. Material changes may also be noticed in the app or on our website. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
